'Parents know best'. Do teenagers discuss all their problems with their parents?

Thursday, July 3, 2008

No. I don't agree one single bit on the 'Parents Know Best' statement. They think they do know but no one can be sure of it. People have to be wrong sometimes. For example, some parents think teenagers are spending too much time on the computer chatting, playing games e.t.c, e.t.c. Our type of education is different from their time. We use a lot of technology nowadays and most of our work are now online. My parents think Im making excuses to be able to use the computer.

I myself don't really share ALL of my problems with my parents. I don't really feel comfortable talking to them on my personal issues. I don't even like them going through my personal stuff. Teenagers feel more comfortable confessing their problems to their friends. I feel all youths would agree with me on this. Yes they have the right to do so but not all the time. It's like taking away the teenagers' freedom away. Parents should leave a bit of space for them and try to make a comfortable environment too. It makes the teen feel hatred towards their parents.
